One of the most common questions we get asked is: “Should I buy a Jet-Agitated Hydroseeder or a Paddle-Agitated Hydroseeder?”
The short answer is—it depends on the type of projects you’re working on and the results you want to achieve.
Understanding the Difference
VX2000 (Paddle-Agitated Hydroseeder)
Paddle-agitated, such as the VX2000, are built to mix and apply extremely thick Hydromulch slurries containing wood fibre mulch, BFMs, FGMs, paper mulch, polymers, and selected granular products. Their aggressive paddle agitation system can break down and blend whole bales of Hydromulch into a uniform, sprayable slurry in under five minutes.
Capable of handling virtually any Hydromulch material, paddle-agitated hydroseeders are ideal for applications ranging from erosion control on steep slopes and batters to large-scale revegetation, lawn establishment, and sports field seeding.
Jet-Agitated
Jet-agitated use powerful recirculating jets to mix and apply Hydromulch slurries containing paper mulch, palletised wood fibre blends, polymers, and other additives. The high-velocity jet streams create continuous circulation within the tank, producing a smooth, consistent slurry without the need for moving paddles.
While not suited for extremely heavy fibre loads, jet-agitated units are efficient, low-maintenance, and well-suited to light-to-medium applications such as residential lawns, sports fields, and general landscaping. However, jet-agitated systems cannot handle the heavier materials required for effective erosion control on steep slopes and batters.
Choosing the Right Machine for You
Paddle-Agitated Hydroseeder (VX2000) — The machine that does it all. From steep slopes and high-erosion areas to large-scale revegetation and lawn seeding, its ability to mix a wide range of materials ensures you can tackle almost any project.
Jet-Agitated Hydroseeder — Best suited for flat areas with minimal erosion concerns. A cost-effective option, but limited to lighter mulches with reduced erosion control capability.
